In order to raise the ecological culture level of employees and create eco-spaces on the territory of the region, Pskov plant “Titan-Polymer” launched the “Eco-Saturday” educational project. In December 2021, it took first place in the “Green Country” nomination of the #MYVMESTE (We are together) International Award.

The initiative organizers held more than 100 ecological events, including competitions, voluntary Saturday work, quests, round tables, interviews, lectures for employees of enterprises, pupils, students, leaders of social movements and organizations and everyone interested.

“The “Eco-Saturday” project was initiated by the Group of Companies Titan. Pskov region, where the new Titan-Polymer Plant is being built, has become a pilot region for the launch and development of the “Eco-Saturday”. The name contains the idea that at least one day a week should be spent cultivating eco-habits and culture of nature caring. The project consists of three stages: educational program, creation of ecological spaces, development of eco-entrepreneurship,” Snezhanna Yermolayeva, coordinator of the “Eco-Saturday” project, Director of Communications of Titan-Polymer LLC reported.

She added that in order to make the project recognizable, the team regularly conducts information work on the ecological education. For example, every Saturday posts about eco-habits are published on the VKontakte social network. Including social reviews. For example, in which coffee shops in Pskov you can come with your mug for coffee and get a discount for it.

“Together with partners we record educational videos. On the channel of the regional radio station “PLN FM” we host an author’s program about eco-friendly lifestyle. “Eco-Saturday” has long gone beyond the boundaries of one region: we have our own program on the Mediametrics channel – “Eco-Saturday with “Titan”. It is hosted by one of the authors of the project - Alina Rybina, Deputy General Director for Corporate Communications of the AO GC Titan.

According to the organizers, the project covers more than thousand people.

Now the Eco-Saturday authors have get down to the second stage - they are creating an ecological space in Pskov region. Experts and eco-activists are working on the architectural plan of the eco-space, developing 3D visualization of ecological locations, and interviewing residents. By the end of the year, they plan to present the eco-space to the public and look for partners who are ready to develop the territories.

“As practice has shown, such social projects are of interest not only to the employees of the enterprise, but to partners, residents and public organizations as well. Ecological projects not only create a positive company’s image, but also increase creativity and involvement of both employees and partners, as well as reduce the company’s energy costs,” Snezhanna Yermolayeva concluded.

In order to form the employees’ habit to sort waste and improve the ecological situation in settlements, Russian Post JSC launched Green Post in 2020. This is a corporate program in the course of which employees collect solid waste for recycling - caps and used batteries. The collection containers were located in the common areas of offices. As a result, in 2020 employees collected 900 kg of used batteries and 450 kg of plastic caps. In 2021 - 470 kg of batteries and 860 kg of plastic caps.

“With Green Post we want to attract the employees’ attention to the issues of responsible consumption and waste management. The project initiative belongs to the Russian Post corporate volunteers,” Anastasia Salnikova, Head of the Russian Post Internal Communications Department reported.

The project render assistance to charitable foundations. “Volunteers to help orphans” and “Geography of Kindness”, as well as “Caps of Kindness” and “Caps for Good” are among them. The Russian Post transfers the collected waste to funds, and they send these wastes for processing and receive money for this.

“By means of this project we solve two problems at once: we render assistance to charitable foundations and involve employees in the ecological agenda. Thanks to our project, colleagues learn more about waste sorting and start to take better care of any resources, including company resources,” the company’s representative added.

In order to draw the employees’ attention to the problems of climate change, Sistema Public Joint-Stock Corporation hosted the ecological marathon “ECO challenge”. The educational campaign motivated employees and their families to transfer to ecological practices in everyday life and work through a series of tasks in a game format.

The marathon lasted four weeks. The project involved 1,254 people from 21 companies in 80 regions, which is 85% of the Group’s companies. During the marathon, employees calculated their personal carbon footprint and completed 22 tasks.

Thanks to the marathon the employees of Sistema Public Joint-Stock Corporation companies launched their own eco-projects.  Thus, in the offices of MTS, Segezha Group, Sistema Charitable Foundation, wastes are now collected separately. The Sistema Charitable Foundation initiated the ZaLes (In favor of forest) corporate run. The green marathon information materials formed the basis of the public course “Eco-habits” on the platform “Lift to the Future”” the audience of which is more than 300 thousand people.

“In order to maintain the employees’ habits after the marathon, the emphasis was placed on practical tasks: for example, “rescue” a lonely unsympathetic banana from a supermarket, get a reusable mug or replace a personal car with a bicycle or a tram for several days. In the feedback form the employees wrote that even after months they keep eco-habits,” Anna Chechik, Development Director of the Sistema Charitable Foundation reported.
