Pskov business helped a public organisation to implement an important social project

The project “Step forward” of Pskov regional organisation of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled is aimed at helping people with disabilities to socialize. It was greatly supported by the Presidential grant, but the support of local businesses was no less important. The won presidential grant was a great help for its implementation, but the support of local business was no less important.

The premises of the regional organisation of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled in the house 19 on Shkolnaya Street have long been in need of repair. In addition, there were not even toilet facilities here. The first stage of the project “Step forward” involved zoning and preparing the space for further activities with disabled people. This stage has now been completed, mostly due to the fact that caring business people helped the society with finishing and building materials.

“We got assistance from Yan Luzin (Director of the group of companies LUG), who provided concrete to fill the floors. In one part of the rooms, we had no floor at all - just ground. Pechory plant “Euroceramics”, thanks to its Director Vladimir Panchenko, allocated floor tiles for the entire room as well as floor and wall tiles for the WC facilities. We could hardly afford it for a room of about 100 sq. m. Sberbank and the regional office of Russian Railways also provided their support. Grigory Storonenkov (General Director of the group of enterprises “Pskovtekhgaz” LLC) made us a great discount for windows. It is also very important for us, since the frames were very old and, to be honest, we were freezing here,” the chairperson of Pskov regional organisation of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People, Deputy of Pskov Regional Assembly Marina Borisenkova said.

She also noted that Titan-Polymer Ltd provided charitable financial assistance to the organisation of disabled people. The allocated amount in the All-Russian Society of the Disabled is still inviolable, but it will certainly be in demand. In particular, serious funds may be needed to install all the necessary equipment that is required to ensure fire safety.

“It's great when people, regardless of party affiliation, just answering the call of their heart, help organisations of disabled people. We would not have been able to cope without such help, because it is impossible to do everything only with the presidential grant money,” Marina Borisenkova.

Now Pskov regional organisation of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled has moved on to the second stage of the project “Step forward”, which includes training events.

One of the directions is training of people with disabilities in first aid, so that they can provide first aid if necessary.
