Eco-project of Titan-Polymer is one of the best at SPIEF

Environmental project of Titan-Polymer plant, a Pskov enterprise of the Titan Group, was presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum among best social practices of the country.

Alina Rybina, Deputy General Director of Corporate Communications of the Titan Group, talked about project EcoSaturday.

The first stage of the project implies creation of ecological mindset. Educational program is adopted for children as well as for adults, including the staff of the Titan Group. "We have everything we need for this stage. We are willing to share our ideas. We also know that in Russia there are other excellent educational programs, we can work together and implement them in our project," told Rybina.

The second stage implies creation of ecological spaces. "These are so-called cities of the future as we see them today, when we do not put piece of nature into our living space, but interact and create comfortable life in the natural landscape. There are some examples, we gather them all over the country", explained Rybina. In particular, one of such projects is implemented in Samara.

To expand EcoSaturday project all over the country, we need administrative support and, first of all, legal changes. So far ecology is not considered in the regulations of urban amenities and housing and communal services, but this must be changed, emphasized Rybina. "Vast and ambitious, but … if not us then who?" said Rybina.

The third stage of the project implies creation and maintenance of infrastructure. "We can't expect the state to cover all the expenses on this, we should promote eco-entrepreneurship. This is not about making money; this is about a place to live for our children and grandchildren. We need good practices, pro-active entrepreneurship, and cooperation with business society, added Rybina. EcoSaturday project is already cooperating with Business Russia.

The project team created an eco-box: a set of useful, durable household items to replace disposable ones. "The more corporations provide such kits to employees and partners as part of their CSR programs, the more people will improve their environmental responsibility," said Rybina.

The Pskov project raised interest among the forum audience. In particular, Sofia Malyavina, Director General of National Priorities Association, invited EcoSaturday team to take part at a big Ecosystem Forum in Kamchatka Territory. There are plans to arrange a large pavilion for the National Ecology Project, where the project experts will become partners of the educational program.

Artem Metelev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, Chairman of the Council of Association of Volunteer Centers offered to support the EcoSaturday project in cooperation with business associations. He also advocated the creation of a working group of representatives of federal eco-projects.
