Mikhail Vedernikov met best volunteers of Pskov region

The Governor of the Pskov region Mikhail Vedernikov rewarded the best volunteers with badges of honor "Honored Volunteer of the Pskov region”. The event took place in creative space studio Loft. The Governor thanked all the participants for their commitment. "I won’t recite the events held, the good deeds you did, there are many of them. You have remarkable results not only in the Pskov region, but also on the federal level. You make a difference and this is very important", said the governor.

Olesya Gorokhova and Snezhanna Ermolaeva, winners of the "WeAreTogether" international award, as well as Maxim Lyubichankovsky, coordinator of the Green Region project have got letters of appreciation from the authorities of the Pskov region.

"I am sure that your contribution will be noticed at the federal level because the Pskov region has the most active volunteers in the country, and that makes me happy," added Vedernikov. He encouraged the volunteers not to rest on their laurels and to reach for new heights.

During the meeting, representatives of the regional volunteer movement discussed results of this year and shared plans for 2022.

In particular, Snezhanna Ermolaeva, coordinator of the EcoSaturday project, talked about the future plans in the Pskov region. Two unique eco-spaces are already under construction. Urban forest in Korytovo and campus of Pskov State University are the pilot sites.

Environmental education remains one of the main work streams. Various events such as eco-quests, round tables, interviews, lectures, challenges, contests, clean-up days are held on a regular basis.

The Governor liked the idea of creating eco-spaces in Pskov and expressed his willingness to support the project. Mr. Vedernikov noticed that by the end of the year the Pskov region will get more than 800 containers for separate waste collection and that volunteers will be of great help to promote awareness among people and provide skills and expertise on separate waste collection.

Ms. Yermolaeva in return ensured that environmental activists are ready to take on the task on large-scale awareness-building. The education program will be presented in the near future.
