Head of the Vitebsk Special Economic Zone (SEZ): Titan-Polymer represents serious technologies and real jobs

Representatives of the Vitebsk Free Economic Zone visited the construction site of the Titan-Polymer plant, which is a resident of the Moglino SEZ in order to discuss the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation and exchange experience with the management and production specialists.

German Petrushko, General Director of Titan-Polymer plant conducted an excursion for the delegation participants and spoke about the enterprise specific features and prospects for its further development. We remind that the first stage of the Titan-Polymer project involves the construction of the BOPET film production plant. The second stage of the project is the PET pellet production. The second stage of the project involves the production of polyethylene terephthalate pellets of fiber and film grades. PET is used for the production of staple fibers, polyester threads (including medical ones), fabrics, and nonwoven materials. During the project implementation, it is planned to invest about 20 billion rubles, create more than 500 new jobs and more than 2.5 thousand in related industries.

The production meeting was held in the form of a lively interested dialogue. The plant guests were interested in both practical issues of construction and selected technologies, as well as problems of ensuring sanitary and fire safety at the enterprise, searching for partners.

Giving replies to the questions of the Belarusian guests, German Petrushko said that the plant was expected to be commissioned in the 4th quarter of this year. “Construction works are underway. We have been a little bit behind the schedule due to the pandemic. Something went wrong, especially in the construction business. We had to renegotiate a new contract with a new general contractor, but all the issues were resolved,” he said.

Sharing their impressions, participants of the Belarusian delegation expressed their opinion that the potential of Titan-Polymer plant was obvious. “What we have seen today is a very serious undertaking. The equipment and technologies which are offered here are sound ones. I am saying this as a former construction worker with 10 years of experience. Even export is not needed here: currently packaging is a deficit at the domestic market as well,” shared his opinion Mikhail Skurat, head of the administration of the Vitebsk Free Economic Zone.

We would like to add that the Vitebsk Free Economic Zone includes 56 enterprises, which employ 17000 employees. It includes Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Orsha district. The area is about 2740 hectares. Pskov region and Republic of Belarus possess permanent historical, cultural and economic relations, and presence of the common border allows to actively develop their trade partnership.
